Rant: Religions' White Knights
They're often times not even religious themselves and may even be atheists. For some reason nothing gets their panties in a knot more than somone "attacking" poor put-upon religion. God forbid (pardon the pun) somone offer any kind of critique of religion. We can't discuss religion in any way that falls short of kissing its ass and sucking on it's withered up old tit. We can honestly and critically debate every other topic under sun but NO ONE must tread upon that sacred ground of religion, no, we must protect it and coddle it and suck it's cock no matter what, even if it's had a strangle hold on humanity since its inception and caused countless harm and continues to do so, even if it holds the human species back by keeping them in an uninformed, superstitious state and vastly distorts reality for most of the planet. Let's not do anything that could disturb that! It's really been working out well for us!
It reminds me of those parasites that infect the brains of rodents or insects and controls their behavior in a way that's favoriable to the parasite. Even when people don't share the same goals, interests, and cares as religion, it still controls them to its benefit.
